Conversations About the Future

JOIN the conversation. Where will the Episcopal Church reside in the space between Judging too Soon and Deciding too Late?

Thanks to all who attended the Consortium's 2008 Annual Conference.
The response to our partnership with the Institute for the Future and our "Faith in the Future" mapping project was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, we are now working hard to produce more materials for distribution (keep checking this website).
So far, we've sent DVD's to each member parish. Using this DVD and your copy of the book Get There Early, you are equipped to talk about the future. Here's a hint: read chapter seven carefully to facilitate a provocative and productive conversation about the future. The time to start is NOW and the place to report back to other members is at www.iftf.net/episcopalfutures.

Meanwhile, we are also charting a course for the parish-level support that the Consortium will give, with continued support from the Institute for the Future.

The 2009 Annual Conference in New Orleans, themed "Hope Rising: Living in a World of Dilemmas," will be an opportunity for sharing findings and opportunities from our first year of this project.

The Consortium board of directors and staff are thankful for the work of Bob Johansen, Jason Tester, and the IFTF Team.

"'We can be a positive force for the future of the Episcopal Church.' With those words, the Rev. Winston Charles, rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, welcomed participants to the 23rd Annual Conference of the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes in St. Louis, Missouri on February 21. Charles served as chair of the conference.
As the conference's keynote speaker, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori brought a progress report on mission in the Episcopal Church.

'One of my great privileges is to visit dioceses and people want to show off the very best,' she said. 'I can tell you this church is vitally engaged in mission work of many sorts.'"
