On Wednesday afternoon, administrators will participate in a Social Media discussion led by David Posteraro. From an administrative perspective, how do we control social media and how do we respond to the myriad of requests from parishioners who want us to build a page for their group? How do we monitor what can go on the site, creating good, strong policies about what can be said as well as who has the authority to speak on behalf of the group/church. How do you get legal permissions, administer separate Facebook pages for a number of groups, and what kind of legal liability is there to the church for content posted? Plus, from an administrative issue, what are the personnel issues around developing and maintaining social media? Administrators will also participate in a confidential round table where they can bring issues and challenges they are facing to their peers for feedback and resources. The round table will continue on Thursday morning.
